Active Endurance Rev 2:2 #Nightlight #RTTBROS #RevelationRevealed part 6
Revelation 2:2 KJV:
"I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars."
One commentator said of the patience referred to here..." It is not the grim patience which resignedly accepts things. It is the courageous gallantry which accepts suffering and hardship and turns them into grace and glory. It is often said that suffering colours life; but when we meet life with the hupomone ( G5281) which Christ can give, the colour of life is never grey or black; it is always tinged with glory."
The patience commended here is not mere waiting around. It is an active endurance in the face of trials and persecution. The Ephesian church persevered in truth and discernment despite the presence of false teachers trying to deceive them.
As believers today, we need this same kind of vigilant patience. When faced with moral compromise or watered-down doctrine, we must stand firm in God's Word. This requires spiritual discipline and dependence on the Holy Spirit. We can't passively let sin or deception overtake the church.
Patience in adversity also applies to our personal lives. When enduring illness, grief, or relational strife, we can follow Jesus' example of committing our souls to our faithful Creator. He will give us grace to withstand every hardship while anticipating the glory to come.
Let us cultivate patience that endures, discerns, and hopes in God's promises. By His strength, we can reject evil and cling to what is true. Our steadfast witness will shine light into the darkness.
