The Light in the Room

" that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24)
When some enter a room, they seek to draw all attention to themselves by declaring "Here I am!" But the wise focus not on themselves, but on others. They look into the eyes of friends old and new and rejoice, "There you are!"
This outward focus fills a room with light. It builds bonds of fellowship and kindles love between kindred spirits. The glow from such a heart warms all it touches, making the greatest difference in a cold world. For when we truly see and appreciate others, we reflect the light of heaven.
The humble care more about connecting than collecting praise. They'd rather build up than showboat. And their reward is rich fellowship and deep joy, for in shining light on others, their own path is lit.
What a profound impact when we turn our gaze from mirrors to windows - from me to thee! The light we let into our hearts is the light we let out. May we live with eyes wide open to see and appreciate the gifts in others. For by truly seeing people, we walk in the light.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
