Delighting ourselves in the Lord should be our utmost priority in life. When we find our joy, contentment, and satisfaction in God, amazing things happen. God shapes our hearts to long for the things that He desires. As we read His word, spend time in worship and prayer, and serve others in His name, our own selfish wants and wishes fade away. In their place arise new desires to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

Making God our delight is not always easy. The pleasures of this world constantly compete for our attention and affection. But when we exercise discipline and intentionally focus on the giver of all good gifts rather than the gifts themselves, our delight begins to shift. The more we behold the beauty and glory of Christ, the more our man-made idols lose their grip over our hearts.

As we delight in the Lord, He changes us from the inside out. The Spirit works through our delight to mold our desires into ones that align with God's will. What once seemed impossible becomes the cry of our hearts. When this transforming delight invades our lives, obedience ceases to be a burden but becomes a joy.

Our delight must be continuous, not just a passing fascination. Day by day, through spiritual disciplines, we stoke the fires of holy delight. And week by week, our desires shed more of the dirt of the world and take on the purity of Christ. When the Lord becomes our chief pleasure, He fills our hearts with passions after His own interests. Delight yourself in the Lord today!
