The power of Christ is not just a concept or an idea. It is a living force that can transform our lives and give us hope in the darkest of times. When we put our faith in Christ, we are tapping into a power that is greater than anything we could ever imagine.

In his book "Six Hours One Friday," Max Lucado delves into the meaning of Jesus' last hours on the cross. He writes about how Jesus' death was not just a tragic event, but a powerful demonstration of God's love for us. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus conquered sin and death and gave us the power to live new lives in him.

There is a story about a man who was walking along a beach one day when he saw another man fishing in the surf with a bait bucket beside him. As he drew closer, he saw that the bait bucket had no lid and had live crabs inside.

"Why don't you cover your bait bucket so the crabs won't escape?" he asked.

"You don't understand," the man replied, "If there is one crab in the bucket it would surely crawl out very quickly. However, when there are many crabs in the bucket, if one tries to crawl up the side, the others grab hold of it and pull it back down so that it will share the same fate as the rest of them."

This story illustrates how we can be like those crabs in our own lives. We can be held back by our fears and doubts, by our past mistakes and failures. But when we put our faith in Christ, we are set free from those things that hold us back. We are given new life and new hope.

So let us not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Let us embrace it with all our hearts and allow it to transform our lives from the inside out.

Devotion:
Anatoli, a weight trainer and fitness model, disguises himself as a janitor and pranks big, strong bodybuilders in the gym by moving and lifting weights that are almost too heavy for them to lift. This is surprising to them because Anatoli is small framed but incredibly strong. His hidden strength is a source of amazement and inspiration to those who witness his feats.

As Christians, we too have a hidden source of strength - the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, and He is the source of our power, wisdom, and guidance. He is the one who empowers us to do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Just as Anatoli's hidden strength surprises and inspires those around him, our hidden strength in the Holy Spirit can surprise and inspire those around us. When we face challenges and difficulties, we can tap into the power of the Holy Spirit to give us the strength we need to overcome them.

The apostle Paul knew the power of the Holy Spirit in his life. He wrote, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13, KJV). Paul faced many challenges and difficulties in his life, but he knew that he could do all things through Christ who strengthened him.

As we face challenges and difficulties in our own lives, let us remember that we have a hidden source of strength in the Holy Spirit. Let us tap into His power and allow Him to strengthen us to do all things through Christ. Just as Anatoli's hidden strength inspires those around him, our hidden strength in the Holy Spirit can inspire those around us to trust in God's power and provision.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help us to tap into His power and strength to face the challenges and difficulties of life. May our hidden strength in the Holy Spirit inspire those around us to trust in Your power and provision. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Power of Forgiveness

In his book "Tale of the Tardy Oxcart," Chuck Swindoll shares a touching illustration that reminds us of the power of forgiveness.

The story goes like this: A young boy was playing with his slingshot when he accidentally hit and killed a bird. He felt terrible about what he had done, but he didn't know what to do.

He decided to take the bird to his neighbor, an old woman who was known for her kindness and compassion. He hoped that she would be able to help him.

When he arrived at her house, he was trembling with fear and guilt. He showed her the dead bird and told her what had happened. To his surprise, she didn't scold him or lecture him. Instead, she took the bird from him and held it gently in her hands.

She looked at the boy with tears in her eyes and said, "You know, I was once like that bird. I was wounded and broken, and I didn't know where to turn. But someone showed me kindness and forgiveness, and it changed my life. Now, I want to do the same for you."

The old woman then took the boy's hand and prayed with him, asking God to forgive him and to heal his heart. The boy left her house feeling lighter and freer than he had in a long time.

This story reminds us of the power of forgiveness. When we forgive others, we not only free them from guilt and shame, but we also free ourselves from bitterness and resentment. Forgiveness is a gift that we give to ourselves as well as to others.

The Bible tells us to be kind and tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God has forgiven us. We must follow God's example and extend grace and mercy to those who have wronged us.

So today, let us choose to forgive those who have hurt us, just as we have been forgiven by God. Let us show kindness and compassion to those who are wounded and broken, just as the old woman did for the young boy. And let us trust in God's power to heal our hearts and restore our relationships as we seek to live in forgiveness and love.

The book of Acts is a powerful testimony of the early church and the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells his disciples,
"Acts 1:8 -But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.."
This verse speaks to the incredible power that comes from the Holy Spirit and the impact it can have on our lives and the world around us.

The Holy Spirit is not just a force or an idea, but a person who is part of the Trinity. He is the power of God at work in our lives, guiding us, comforting us, and empowering us to do the work of God. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we are given a supernatural power that enables us to live a life that is pleasing to God and to be effective witnesses for Him.

However, sin can break our connection with God and cut us off from His power. Sin is a dangerous thing that can lead us down a path of destruction and away from the will of God. When we allow sin to take hold in our lives, we are essentially telling God that we don't need His power or His guidance. We are cutting ourselves off from the very source of our strength and our hope.

The good news is that God is always ready and willing to forgive us when we turn away from our sin and turn back to Him. He is a loving and merciful God who desires to see us live powerful lives of purpose.

PREVAILING POWER Acts 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” THE PRAYER which prevails is that which is initiated by the Holy Spirit.
He is the medium of communication between heaven and earth, and reveals to us the thoughts and desires of God, so that we do not ask amiss.
Just as the ether will connect up one continent with another, so long as the transmitter and receiver are in accord, so the Holy Spirit is the Medium between ourselves and the glorified Redeemer. Prayer is transmitted from our hearts, borne forward by the Spirit, and registered in the heart of our Lord. It is perhaps better to say that it originates there, is transmitted to us,
and sent back from us to Him. We know that by our thought-waves we can help our friends in distant places, so it is surely possible for our thoughtwaves to reach the Lord Jesus. Oh, that we may be ever in such sympathy and accord with Him that there may be no loss of His thoughts toward us.
There are four kinds of prayer. The Prayer of Communion and fellowship.
It is like a father asking his little boy why he keeps coming into his study,
and discovers that the child has no special reason, but only wants to be with him. So we should not be satisfied with the knowledge of God our Father which ordinary men possess, but have such aptitudes and yearnings which can only be satisfied by fellowship, communion, and adoring love.
The Prayer of Request. Perhaps we make more of this at the beginning of life than after. As life goes on we are content to leave ourselves in the wise and tender hands of our Heavenly Father, and it is enough that He cares. We learn to be thankful that some prayers have not been answered, and to realize that God is doing for us ever so much better than we ask or think.
The Prayer of Intercession. This is nearest to the mind of Christ. He wears our names on His heart, and ever fives to intercede.
The Prayer of Conflict. At times we are called to enter into the Garden,
and to bear with Him some of the burden of His conflict for souls against the principalities and powers of evil. At such times there is urgent need to watch and pray!
PRAYER--Warm my cold heart, Lord, I beseech Thee. Take away all that hinders me from giving myself to Thee. Give me grace to obey Thee in all things, and ever to follow Thy gracious leading. AMEN.
