ALL #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT

ALL #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT

The Changing Definition of "All"
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31
Reflection:
It is a humbling thing to realize that the definition of "giving your all" changes as the seasons of our lives shift.
If you asked your twenty-year-old self what it meant to give one hundred percent, the answer would have likely involved running at full speed until your lungs burned. At twenty, "all" meant doing everything at once. It meant high output, high volume, and boundless energy. It meant sprinting through life with a reckless abandon that defied consequence.
But you are in your sixties now. And if you tried to summon that same frantic, high-velocity energy today, your body and spirit would likely say, "Please, no. That would do me in."
There can be a strange grief in this transition. We look at what we used to be capable of and wonder if we are failing because we cannot match that same metric of performance. But we must remember that the God who made you is also the God who knows your frame. He is not confused by your aging; He is not disappointed that you cannot sprint the way you once could.
Giving your all at sixty does not look like sprinting; it looks like endurance.
It looks like showing up with a steady, surrendered heart even when the energy is low. It looks like loving your family with patience instead of just passion. It looks like faithfulness in the quiet, unseen moments rather than the loud, public achievements of your youth.
One hundred percent at twenty is often measured by quantity, how much can I get done? One hundred percent at sixty is measured by quality, how deeply can I love, and how gracefully can I trust?
You are not running the same race you ran at twenty. You are running the race of maturity. And in this race, the strength that comes from God is not just about energy; it is about the ability to keep walking, to keep hoping, and to keep resting when He says, "It is enough."
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the energy and fire of my youth, but thank You more for the wisdom and depth of my age. Forgive me for comparing my current chapter to the previous one. Help me to understand that 'giving my all' today looks like faithful endurance, not frantic exertion. Teach me to trust Your strength when my own feels different. Give me the grace to rest when I am tired, and the peace to know that You are just as pleased with my quiet faithfulness as You ever were with my loud activity. Amen.
