The Foundation of Truth
"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." - John 17:17 (KJV)
In a world where the concept of absolute truth is increasingly dismissed, we find ourselves adrift in a sea of relativism. Norman Kissinger from Redeeming the Time Brothers Ministries brings to light a cultural phenomenon that has permeated our society: the rejection of truth. This denial has not only affected the spiritual realm but has led to a broader cultural collapse, where even basic realities are questioned.
The Bible, however, stands as a beacon of truth in a world of shadows. John 14:6 (KJV) declares, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This profound statement encapsulates the essence of our faith—Jesus Christ is the embodiment of truth, and through Him, we gain access to the Father.
As Christians, we are called to embrace this truth wholeheartedly. It is not enough to delve into the depths of God's Word; we must also grasp its basics. The average believer's illiteracy in Scripture has led to ineffective Christian living. We must return to the fundamentals, for it is there that our foundation is solidified.
John 1:14 (KJV) reveals, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."The law, given through Moses, was a precursor to the ultimate revelation of grace and truth through Jesus Christ (John 1:17). To serve God is to serve Him in truth, acknowledging our sinful nature and need for a Savior.
Salvation hinges on the acceptance of truth—the sinlessness of Christ, His atoning sacrifice, and His ability to save. Denial of these truths renders salvation impossible. As bearers of truth, we reflect Christ's character, becoming more like Him in thought, word, and deed.
Let us, therefore, seek the Lord in prayer, asking Him to reveal the truth within us, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. For in acknowledging our flaws, we also recognize our need for His grace. As we grow in truth, we grow in Christlikeness, becoming beacons of truth in a world that desperately needs it.
May this week be one of reflection and growth as you delve into the truth of God's Word. May you be blessed and become a blessing to others as you live out the truth of Jesus Christ in your life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, sanctify us through Your truth. Your Word is the truth that guides us, the light that illuminates our path. Help us to embrace Your truth, to live it out daily, and to share it with a world in need. In Jesus' name, Amen.
