"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" — Mark 8:36
Imagine the scene: a parking lot in New Zealand. A 54-year-old woman collapses. Her heart stops. For a few minutes, she is, by every medical definition, dead. Then, a stranger steps in, performs chest compressions, and pulls her back from the edge. She’s revived, rushed to the hospital, and given a second chance at life.
It’s a miracle. A genuine, breath-returning miracle.
Then, a few days later, the mail arrives. Inside is an 80-dollar parking ticket. The company managing the lot noticed her car had overstayed the time limit on the day she died.
I can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it, but there’s something deeper there. Here is a woman who had just experienced the greatest gift possible, life itself, and the world’s first response was to send her a bill for the time she spent being dead.

We spend so much of our lives worrying about the "parking tickets" of existence. We stress over the breach notices, the deadlines, and the tiny penalties of a rigid world. We let the trivialities of life steal the joy of the miracle.
Tonight, try this:
Identify the "parking tickets" in your life, those small stresses that feel huge but don't actually matter in eternity.
Intentionally shift your focus from the penalty to the providence.
Thank God for the "second chances" He has given you that no amount of money could ever pay for.
Don't let the noise of the world's rules drown out the wonder of God's mercy.
You’ve been given a life that is priceless. Stop worrying about the cost of the parking.
