Words of Life
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." (Proverbs 25:11 KJV)
When your loved ones come home after a brutal day out in a world that often hates them, be careful of your words. Your words can either give life or stab like a knife. Choose to speak words of uplift and encouragement. As Adrian Rogers said, "Your tongue can be a deadly weapon or a tree of life."
Meet your loved ones with compassion, not criticism. Listen patiently as they share about their difficult day. Don't judge or offer unsolicited advice. Simply be present. Offer them grace and understanding. As Spurgeon wrote, "A few cheering words may bridge the chasm of difficulty."
Your words have power - use them to build up, not tear down. Ask God to fill you with His love and wisdom in responding. Speak words of affirmation, empathy, and care. Uplift their spirits with laughter and joy. Your tone can make all the difference.
Even when tensions are high, choose peace. Breathe deeply before reacting. Season your speech with grace. Let your words reflect the gentle wisdom from above. Speak words of life.
