Short Leash 2 Cor. 12:7 #NK #RTTBROS #Nightlight #NormanKissinger

This is Norman Kissinger from Redeeming Time Brothers Ministry. My brother and I have devoted our lives to ministry, raising families, and being involved in churches. We'd like to have an online place where people can be encouraged as we encourage one another in faith.

I wanted to reference a Bible passage and introduce you to somebody. 2 Corinthians 12:7 mentions a "thorn" given to Paul to prevent pride from the revelations he saw. This refers to repeated trials, like waves continuously pounding the shore.

This reminded me of our dog, Susie. She loves chasing rabbits but that isn't good for her. Our other dog Bonnie can be off-leash, but Susie must stay leashed or she'll run off for an hour. I realized we also need a "short leash" at times. God knows the exact leash each of us needs to protect us from temptation and unwise choices. Despite some teaching, God will allow difficulties to protect us.

Like Susie, we wish some things were different. But God may keep our "leash short" for our benefit, molding and guiding our development. I wanted to share this because some teaching suggests God would never allow anything painful, stressful or difficult. But Scripture says otherwise.

Though trials and burdens come, you walk beside me, Lord. Your strength helps me face each moment, however hard. Thank you for your faithful presence and endless grace. Fill me with your Spirit to reflect Christ today. Use me to encourage someone weary. Remind me my life is in your hands, and you who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
