God Knows Everything Daniel 2:27-29 #Nightlight #RTTBROS

 God Knows Everything Daniel 2:27-29  #Nightlight #RTTBROS
God Knows Everything
by Dr. Paul Chappell

Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.  Daniel 2:27-29

In 2000, as part of their bicentennial celebration, the Library of Congress launched a special project. After the original library was burned by the British during the War of 1812, Congress purchased nearly 6,500 books from Thomas Jefferson's personal collection. Many of those books were destroyed in another fire in 1851. So the Library of Congress began searching for copies of all those books that had been lost in an effort to complete the restoration project. Many of them were rare and very difficult to find. Imagine how hard it must have been for Jefferson to collect them all. In our day we take the availability of knowledge for granted and expect to be able to look up any detail that we need to know almost instantly.

Yet despite the vast increase in information we see in our day, there is no corresponding increase in wisdom or understanding. That is because those come from God. Daniel pointed out to Nebuchadnezzar that the only reason he was able to interpret his dream was because God had revealed it to him. Remember, Daniel was not working from what Nebuchadnezzar told him—the king couldn't remember the dream. Only God could tell Daniel both what the dream was and what it meant. As our society works harder and harder to undermine the truth, it is more important than ever for us to seek the wisdom only God provides. He is the source of truth, His truth never fails.

Today's Growth Principle:
God offers to us all of the knowledge and wisdom we need to live rightly and glorify Him.

The Sword Eph 6:14-17 #Nightlight #RTTBROS

The Sword Eph 6:14-17    #Nightlight #RTTBROS
Pick Up the Sword by Paul Chappell

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:14-17

The Bible makes it clear that the Christian life is a battle. We are exhorted to be on guard, attentive, and prepared for the attacks of the enemy. We are warned of the dangers of overconfidence and thinking we are above being defeated. "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall" (1 Corinthians 10:12). It is important to remember that our struggle is not merely defensive. In addition to putting on armor to protect us from spiritual attacks, we are called to take up a weapon to take the fight to the enemy, and that weapon is the Bible.

Charles Spurgeon wrote. "This weapon is good at all points, good for defense and for attack, to guard our whole person or to strike through the joints and marrow of the foe. Like the seraph's sword at Eden's gate, it turns every way. You cannot be in a condition that the Word of God has not provided. The Word has as many faces and eyes as providence itself. You will find it unfailing in all periods of your life, in all circumstances. in all companies, in all trials, and under all difficulties. Were it fallible, it would be useless in emergencies, but its unerring truth renders it precious beyond all price to the soldiers of the cross."

Just as a soldier is put through training to become familiar with his weapon before being sent into battle, we need to be filling our hearts and minds with the Word of God. We need to know what it says, and know how it applies to the situations in which we find ourselves.

Today's Growth Principle:

Knowing and using God's Word is the way to living in victory throughout the Christian

life.

Habit Trails #Nightlight #RTTBROSHabit Trails of the Soul

Habit Trails   #Nightlight #RTTBROS
Habit Trails of the Soul

by Tony Beckett and Woodrow Kroll

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:1‭-‬2 KJV

Show me three things and I can probably tell what is important to you: your checkbook, your calendar and your home. The first will show me what you do with your money, the things that you value enough to spend your earnings attaining. The second will show me what you do with your time, that in spite of how busy you might be, these are things for which you still find time. The third will show me your interests. Items accumulated or displayed, even the books and magazine on a coffee table, can reveal your interests.

The things that we devote time and money to have captured our minds and our hearts. Thinking about and being involved in those things results in habit trails developing in our souls. We just seem to keep returning to those thoughts, those things.

First and foremost in our habit trails needs to be the things of God, the things of above. Paul tells us to set both our hearts and minds on things above. It is easier, more natural, to think about and love earthly things. After all, we can see them, hold them, collect them--love and think about them. Yet that is exactly what we are to do with the things of God--love and think about them, not totally to the exclusion of other things, but with a priority.

As we discipline our hearts and minds to fall in love with and think about what God teaches us from His Word, this will happen. Consider your habit trails. Are they of things above or below?

A good first step is Bible memory. Memorize Colossians 3:1-2. Then ask God to help you develop heavenly habit trails.
