The Revelation Of Jesus Rev 1:1 

The book of Revelation opens with these words: "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John" (Revelation 1:1, KJV). The entirety of Scripture points to Jesus Christ. As we read God's Word, we must see how it reveals Jesus.

The Old Testament contains rich types and shadows anticipating Christ's coming. The sacrifices and feasts all foreshadow His sacrifice on Calvary. The prophets proclaim the coming Messiah. As Charles Spurgeon exhorted, we must "run to the cross" in every verse. The cross is the focal point of the Bible.

The Gospels manifest Jesus Christ, the Son of God, living a perfect life and dying for our sins. The book of Acts shows the risen Christ and the spread of His church. The Epistles explain the meaning of Christ's work, establishing sound doctrine for believers. Finally, Revelation consummates human history, unveiling the glorious return of the King of Kings. From beginning to end, the Bible reveals Jesus.

Moreover, as Christ is the focus of Scripture, so He must be the focus of our lives. As Paul wrote, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20). We are called to reveal Jesus through our words and actions each day.

May we yield ourselves fully to Christ, allowing Him to live through us. For the world reads the Bible through the translation of our lives. Let us shine as lights, manifesting the gracious love and truth of Jesus. To God be the glory both now and forever!
