Focus on Me Not the Storm
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isaiah 26:3 KJV)
Life is full of storms. Trials and tribulations that toss us to and fro emotionally, spiritually, and even physically. When the winds pick up and the floods rise, it's only natural for us to panic. We frantically try to control the situation, make sense of the chaos, and find a way through it all. Yet in our despair, we lose sight of the One who truly calms the storms.
Jesus doesn't promise us a storm-free life. But he does assure us of His perfect peace when we fix our eyes on Him. He brings hope in the midst of the hurricane, comfort in the midst of the earthquake, joy in the midst of the famine. His grace is sufficient for every flood and fire we walk through.
The next time you feel your world spinning out of control, choose to focus on the Lord rather than the storms of life. Reflect on His promises. Remember His faithfulness through past trials. Cry out to Him for strength and anchor your wavering heart in who He is. The storm may still rage, but He will give you His perfect peace as you keep your mind stayed on Him.
Dear Lord, help me to fix my eyes on you today and always. When the storms come, give me the wisdom and faith to focus on your power rather than my problems. Calm my anxious heart with the assurance of your love and grace which never fails. Amen.
