ORDINARY INTO EXTRAORDINARY #RTTBROS #nightlight

ORDINARY INTO EXTRAORDINARY  #RTTBROS #nightlight

Ordinary Into Extraordinary

"And she said, I have not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil." - 2 Kings 4:2 (KJV)

Beloved, consider the widow's plight. All she had was a simple pot of oil, yet the Lord used it mightily. In our modern world, we often overlook the small blessings, thinking they're inadequate for God's purposes. But let me tell you, child of God, the Almighty specializes in using the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary.

Imagine a young man, fresh out of college, with nothing but a laptop and a heart full of dreams. The world may see limitations, but in God's hands, that laptop becomes a tool for global ministry, reaching souls across continents with the Gospel message.

Or picture a stay-at-home mother, feeling trapped within four walls, armed only with a smartphone and a few spare moments between diaper changes. Yet, through her faithful prayers and encouraging words shared on social media, she becomes a beacon of hope to countless struggling parents.

Consider the retiree, whose only asset seems to be free time. But when that time is yielded to the Holy Spirit, it transforms into a powerful force for good - mentoring troubled youth, serving at a local shelter, or interceding for the nation.

Child of God, what's your "pot of oil"? Is it a talent you've dismissed as insignificant? A small savings account you think couldn't possibly make a difference? Or perhaps it's simply the breath in your lungs and the love in your heart.

Remember, the widow's miracle wasn't in the oil itself, but in her obedience and God's power. The Lord is not limited by what we have, but by our willingness to surrender it all to Him. When we offer our "pot of oil" - however small it may seem - He can multiply it beyond our wildest imagination.

So I challenge you today: Take inventory of your life. What has God placed in your hands? Offer it to Him without reservation. For when the Holy Spirit fills and overflows those vessels, miracles happen, needs are met, and God's glory is revealed.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see the "pots of oil" in our lives. Help us to surrender them fully to You. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit, and use us mightily for Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God's Redemption Plan #RTTBROS #nightlight

God's Redemption Plan  #RTTBROS #nightlight

God's Redemption Plan

Bible Verse: "And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." - Genesis 32:26 (KJV)

Devotion:

In our spiritual journey, we often find ourselves wrestling with our own nature, much like Jacob did. The sermon excerpt reminds us that God's ultimate desire is to redeem, restore, and bless us. However, this transformation requires addressing our sinful tendencies.

It's easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others, thinking, "At least I'm not that bad." But this mindset misses the point of God's grace. Our hope doesn't lie in being "better" than others, but in God's unwavering love and His commitment to transforming us.

God's redirection in our lives, though sometimes uncomfortable, is a testament to His love. He doesn't leave us in our sin, which would ultimately separate us from Him. Instead, He engages with us, even in our struggles, to bring about lasting change.

Remember Jacob's determination when wrestling with God: he refused to let go until he received a blessing. Similarly, we should cling to God's promises, allowing His transformative work in our lives, no matter how challenging it may be.

Today, let's embrace God's redirections, recognizing them as opportunities for growth and blessings. Our hope isn't in our own righteousness, but in God's unfailing grace and His desire to see us restored and renewed.

Prayer: Lord, help us to see Your loving hand in the challenges we face. Give us the strength to wrestle with our old nature and the wisdom to embrace Your transforming grace. Amen.

The power of persistent prayer #RTTBROS #nightlight

The power of persistent prayer #RTTBROS #nightlight

"The Power of Persistent Prayer"

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." - James 5:16 (KJV)

In a world that seems increasingly divided between faith and secularism, where cultural battles rage and personal crises abound, we may wonder how to respond as followers of Christ. The answer lies not in political maneuvering or human wisdom, but in the timeless power of prayer.

James 5 reminds us of the transformative impact of persistent, faith-filled prayer. Just as a farmer patiently waits for his crops to grow, we too must persevere in prayer, trusting God's perfect timing. Our prayers are not meant to overcome God's reluctance, but to lay hold of His willingness to work in our lives and in our world.

The chapter points to Elijah as an example of prayer's power. This ordinary man, "subject to like passions as we are," prayed earnestly and saw God move in extraordinary ways. His prayers brought both drought and rain, demonstrating God's sovereignty over nature and nations alike.

As we face today's challenges, let us not grow weary in prayer. Whether we're dealing with personal afflictions, sickness, or cultural decay, our first response should be to "reach up" to God rather than merely reaching out to others. We serve a God of unlimited resources and boundless love. As John Newton encouraged, let us bring "large askings" to our King, confident that He can do immeasurably more than we can imagine.

Remember George Mueller, who ran orphanages for thousands of children solely through the power of prayer. Time and again, God provided miraculously in response to Mueller's unwavering faith. This same God invites us to approach His throne boldly with our petitions.

Another powerful example of answered prayer comes from the life of Hudson Taylor, the renowned missionary to China. During a sea voyage, Taylor's ship became becalmed, drifting dangerously close to cannibalistic islands. The captain, aware of Taylor's faith, asked him to pray for wind. Taylor agreed, but with one condition - that the captain set the sails in preparation for God's answer. Though skeptical, the captain complied. Within 45 minutes, so much wind had come that the captain had to ask Taylor to stop praying! This illustrates not only God's power to answer prayer but also the importance of acting in faith as we pray.

In these troubled times, let us renew our commitment to fervent, persistent prayer. As we do, we may find that God uses our prayers not only to change circumstances but to transform us into people who reflect His character and love to a watching world. Like Hudson Taylor, let us pray with expectation, ready to act on God's answers.

The cultural crises we face today may seem insurmountable, but they are not beyond the reach of our God. As we persevere in prayer, we tap into a power far greater than any earthly force. Let us be encouraged by these examples of answered prayer and continue to bring our personal concerns and societal challenges before the throne of grace. As we do, we may find that God is waiting to do "exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20, KJV).

In your own life, consider: What seemingly impossible situation are you facing? What cultural issue burdens your heart? Bring these before God in persistent, faith-filled prayer. Then, like Hudson Taylor setting the sails, prepare your heart and hands for God's answer. As you pray, remember that the same God who answered Elijah, George Mueller, and Hudson Taylor is listening to your prayers today.

The Cost Of Disciplship 2 #NormanKissinger #NK #RTTBROS #nightlight

The Cost Of Disciplship 2 #NormanKissinger #NK #RTTBROS #nightlight

"For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels." - Luke 9:26 (KJV)

Devotion: Standing Firm in God's Word

In a world that often challenges our faith, we must remember the importance of standing firm in God's Word. Too often, we find ourselves apologizing for the teachings of Scripture or trying to soften its message to appease those around us. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to be bold in our faith and unapologetic about the truths contained in the Bible.

The church has sometimes fallen into the trap of feeling inferior or ashamed when faced with worldly criticism. We may be tempted to explain away difficult passages or downplay the parts of Scripture that seem at odds with modern sensibilities. But in doing so, we risk compromising the very foundation of our faith.

Instead, we must approach God's Word with confidence, knowing that it contains wisdom and truth that transcends time and culture. While we may not always understand every detail, especially in passages from thousands of years ago, we can trust that God's Word is perfect and purposeful.

As we interact with others, let us not be ashamed of the gospel or feel the need to constantly defend it against every criticism. Rather, let us present the truth in love, confident that God's Word stands on its own. We need not apologize for our beliefs or water down the message to make it more palatable.

Remember, the world does not have all the answers, despite its claims. Our faith, grounded in Scripture, offers hope, healing, and ultimate truth. Let us stand firm, unashamed of the gospel, knowing that it is "the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth" (Romans 1:16, KJV).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant us the courage to stand firm in Your Word. Help us to be bold in our faith, unashamed of the gospel, and confident in the truth of Scripture. May we present Your message with love and conviction, trusting in Your wisdom above all else. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Cost Of Disciplship #RTTBROS #nightlight#Normankissinger #Nk

The Cost Of Disciplship #RTTBROS #nightlight
#Normankissinger #Nk

Bible Verse:

"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it." - Mark 8:35 (KJV)

Devotion:

In our walk with Christ, we often encounter a paradox that challenges our understanding of discipleship. Jesus calls us to a life of complete surrender, one that may seem counterintuitive to our worldly instincts. The words of our Lord in Mark's Gospel present us with a profound truth: true life is found in losing ourselves for His sake.

In today's world, we're bombarded with messages of self-preservation and personal gain. Even within the church, there's a temptation to water down the Gospel, presenting a version of Christianity that demands little change and even less sacrifice. However, this diluted message fails to capture the essence of what it means to follow Christ.

Jesus didn't mince words when He said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" (Mark 8:34, KJV). The cross, a symbol of execution in Jesus' time, represents the ultimate sacrifice. It's a stark reminder that discipleship comes at a cost – the cost of our very selves.

This call to die to self isn't about earning salvation through works. Rather, it's about living out our faith with unwavering commitment. It's about being willing to give our all for the cause of Christ, just as the early disciples did. They understood that a faith worth dying for is a faith worth living for.

As we navigate the challenges of our times, let us remember that true discipleship requires more than mere lip service. It demands a willingness to surrender our will to God's, to prioritize His glory over our comfort, and to live out our faith boldly in a world that may not understand.

Let us examine our hearts today. Are we holding back parts of ourselves from God? Are we shying away from the full cost of discipleship? May we be inspired to embrace a faith that is all-encompassing, one that transforms every aspect of our lives for His glory.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, forgive us for the times we've sought an easy Christianity. Help us to embrace the full cost of discipleship, to take up our cross daily, and to follow You wholeheartedly. May our lives be a testament to Your transforming power, and may we never be ashamed of You or Your words. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I Am Known #RTTBROS #nightlight

I Am Known   #RTTBROS #nightlight

I Am Known

"I know my sheep, and am known of mine." - John 10:14

In our fast-paced, overcrowded world, it's easy to feel like just another face in the crowd. But take heart, friend! Our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, knows each of us intimately and personally.

Consider this: As a teacher's class size grows, their knowledge of individual students often diminishes. Not so with our Lord! To Him, there are no faceless masses. Whether it's a handful or "a multitude which no man can number" (Revelation 7:9), each of us remains a distinct individual in His sight.

Imagine that! The Creator of the universe knows you by name, understands your unique struggles, and recognizes your specific needs. If you've strayed from the fold, He notices your absence and actively seeks you out. That's the kind of personal attention our Shepherd provides.

But it's not just a one-way street. Jesus says, "I am known of mine" (John 10:14). As we walk with Him daily, our ability to recognize His voice grows stronger. In a world full of counterfeits and false shepherds, this discernment is crucial.

Remember, even "Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14). He can put on a convincing shepherd disguise. But the more time we spend with our true Shepherd, the sharper our spiritual senses become. We learn to see through the facades and distinguish the genuine from the fake.

So, dear friend, draw close to your Shepherd today. Revel in the fact that He knows you intimately, and commit to knowing Him more deeply. In this mutual recognition, you'll find unshakeable confidence and abiding peace.

God's Bow Gen 9:13-15 #RTTBROS #nightlight

God's Bow Gen 9:13-15 #RTTBROS #nightlight

God's Bow

After the tempest comes the calm, and with it, a breathtaking sight: a rainbow arching across the sky. This vibrant display of colors serves as a powerful reminder of God's covenant with humanity.

In Genesis 9:13-15, God declares, "I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh."

The rainbow isn't just a beautiful natural phenomenon; it's a divine promise. Each time we witness this spectacle, we're reminded of God's faithfulness and mercy. Just as He promised Noah that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood, He assures us of His constant presence and protection in our lives.

In our personal storms - be they trials, sorrows, or challenges - we can look to this promise. The rainbow reminds us that every storm has an end, and God's love endures through it all. As Psalm 30:5 beautifully puts it, "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Let the rainbow be a symbol of hope in your life. When dark clouds gather, remember that God's promises are steadfast. He is with you in the storm, and His grace will see you through to calmer skies.

The next time you see a rainbow, take a moment to thank God for His unfailing promises. Let it remind you that no matter what storms you face, His love and faithfulness remain constant, painting your life with the vibrant colors of His grace.

The Fifth Gospel Matt 5:16 #RTTBROS #nightlight

The Fifth Gospel Matt 5:16  #RTTBROS #nightlight
The Fifth Gospel

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Gypsy Smith once said, "There are 5 Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and The Christian. But most people never read the first 4."

This profound statement reminds us of our duty as followers of Christ. While the four Gospels in the Bible are essential for understanding the life, teachings, and sacrifice of Jesus, there is a fifth "gospel" that we often overlook - our own lives.

As Christians, we are called to be living testimonies of God's love and grace. Our actions, words, and attitudes should reflect the teachings of Christ in such a way that others can "read" the gospel through us. Just as the written Gospels share the good news of salvation, our lives should proclaim this same message to those around us.

Consider how your daily interactions might be "read" by others. Do they see patience in times of frustration? Kindness towards those who are difficult? Forgiveness when wronged? These are the verses of our living gospel, written not with ink, but with the spirit of the living God.

Let us strive to make our lives a gospel worth reading, one that draws others to the love of Christ. May we be mindful that for some, we might be the only Bible they ever "read." Let our lives shine brightly, reflecting the light of Christ, so that through us, others may come to know the transformative power of God's love.

As we go forth, let us remember that we are not merely readers of the Gospel, but living epistles, called to share the good news through our very lives.

Hit The Sack Matt 11:28 #RTTBROS #nightlight

Hit The Sack Matt 11:28   #RTTBROS #nightlight

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

In the annals of military history, there's a phrase that echoes through time: "hitting the sack." After a grueling march, with feet aching and muscles weary, soldiers would long for nothing more than to collapse onto their makeshift beds, finding respite in sleep. This simple act of rest was not merely a physical necessity but a balm for the soul, preparing them for the challenges that lay ahead.

Just as these soldiers understood the vital importance of rest, so too does our Heavenly Father recognize our need for spiritual and physical repose. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we often find ourselves marching to the relentless drumbeat of obligations, deadlines, and expectations. We push ourselves to the brink, forgetting that even the mightiest warrior needs time to recuperate.

The Lord, in His infinite wisdom, set the example for us from the very beginning. After six days of creation, "God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made" (Genesis 2:3, KJV). If the Almighty saw fit to rest, how much more do we, His mortal creations, need to heed this divine pattern?

Rest is not a sign of weakness, but a demonstration of trust in God's provision and care. When we allow ourselves to "hit the sack" – to truly let go of our burdens and find rest in the Lord – we open ourselves to His rejuvenating power. It is in these moments of quiet and stillness that we often hear His voice most clearly, guiding us and renewing our strength.

Let us remember the words of the psalmist: "Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee" (Psalm 116:7, KJV). In our rest, we acknowledge our dependence on God and allow Him to replenish our spirits.

As we face the battles of life, may we have the wisdom to recognize our need for rest, the courage to step away from the fray, and the faith to entrust our burdens to the Lord. For in His rest, we find not just temporary relief, but enduring peace and strength for the journey ahead.

According to His Own Purpose

"According to His Own Purpose" #RTTBROS #Nightlight

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

2 Timothy 1:9-11

In our daily lives, we often encounter what we perceive as coincidences or chance occurrences. Consider the story of a missionary who missed his flight due to an unexpected traffic jam. Initially frustrated, he later discovered that the plane he was meant to board had crashed. What seemed like an inconvenience was, in fact, God's providential protection. Such instances remind us that with God, there are no accidents or coincidences. Every event, whether big or small, is part of His grand design and purpose.

Our lives are not random sequences of events but carefully orchestrated narratives written by the Divine Author. Long before we drew our first breath, God knew us intimately. As the Psalmist beautifully expresses, "Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them" (Psalm 139:16).

While we may be blind to what lies ahead, God sees the entire tapestry of time. He acts not just in response to current circumstances but in perfect alignment with His eternal plan. As we're reminded in Galatians 4:4, "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law." This assurance of God's sovereign control should infuse our hearts with peace and unwavering confidence.

In light of this truth, worry becomes unnecessary, fear loses its grip, and doubt fades away. No matter what storms we face, we can stand firm knowing that God's purpose is at work and His presence is assured. A Christian gripped by fear presents a poor reflection of God's power and love to the world. Instead, we are called to boldness, rooted in the certainty of His purpose.

Today's Growth Principle:
Recognizing God's sovereign control empowers us to face every situation with faith rather than fear.

Pit Prayer PS 30 #RTTBROS #nightlight

Pit Prayer PS 30 #RTTBROS #nightlight

Pit Prayer Verse: "I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me." - Psalm 30:1 (KJV)

Devotion:

Life's journey is often marked by seasons of turmoil and tranquility. Like the ebb and flow of tides, storms in our lives come and go. Some we can see approaching, allowing us to brace ourselves or seek shelter. Others catch us unawares, leaving us reeling in their wake.

Yet there are times when we face challenges far more daunting than any storm. We find ourselves in situations so confining, so overwhelming, that we feel trapped - unable to move forward, backward, or even sideways. In these moments, we are like David in the pit, with nowhere to turn but upward.

It is in these darkest hours that our faith is truly tested. When all human efforts seem futile, we are reminded of our utter dependence on God. Like David, we must cry out to the Lord, pleading for deliverance, restoration, and transformation.

The beauty of our relationship with God is that He hears these cries. As the psalmist declares, the Lord lifts us up. He does not allow our circumstances to overcome us, nor does He permit our adversaries to triumph over us.

In your moments of deepest despair, remember that God is not distant. He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your pit may be deep, but God's love and power are deeper still.

Let us take comfort in knowing that no situation is beyond God's reach. He who created the universe can surely navigate the storms of our lives and lift us from the deepest pits. Trust in His timing, lean on His strength, and never cease to call upon His name.

Prayer: Lord, in my darkest moments, when I feel trapped and helpless, remind me of Your unfailing love and power. Lift me up as You did David, and grant me the faith to trust in Your deliverance. Amen.

We Have To Choose #RTTBROS #nightlight

We Have To Choose  #RTTBROS #nightlight

We Have to Choose!

by Dr. Paul Chappell

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

James 4:2-4

There is an old story about a man who couldn't decide which side to fight for in the Civil War. So he put on a blue Union army jacket and gray Confederate army pants. He thought that by doing so he would be accepted by both sides, but instead he found that both sides were shooting at him. Absurd as that story is, it illustrates an important spiritual truth: we can't be on both sides of the spiritual battle. If we want to cling to the things of the world, that places us at enmity with God. He deserves our complete allegiance. If we give Him anything less, we are essentially siding with the world.

The desire to be accepted by the world and receive the praise of men has led many people to lower their commitment to God and the truth, and begin accepting things they should always resist. There is no stopping place once a person starts down that path. There will always be one more thing to give up in order to continue to be considered acceptable. Jesus warned of this danger when He said, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets” (Luke 6:26).

Rather than seeking the approval of the world, we should make our allegiance to God firm and unyielding, no matter what happens. John Wesley wrote, “Give me one hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergyman or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon the earth.”

Today's Growth Principle:

A person trying to fit in with both God in the world will end up pleasing neither.

Hard Mode #RTTBROS #nightlight

Hard Mode  #RTTBROS #nightlight

"For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth." - Hebrews 12:6 (KJV)

In our modern world, we often seek comfort and ease above all else. Our children play video games with "easy mode" and "hard mode," often starting with the easier setting. But in life, we don't always have that choice. God's design for our growth often involves challenges and hardships.

Just as a gamer must switch to "hard mode" to truly develop their skills, we too must face difficulties to grow in character and faith. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom, allows us to experience trials not to punish us, but to refine us.

Consider the words of James: "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience." (James 1:2-3, KJV)

These "divers temptations" or various trials are not meant to break us, but to make us. They are the training ground where our faith is exercised and strengthened. Like a muscle that grows through resistance, our spiritual fortitude increases through adversity.

The great preacher Adrian Rogers often spoke about the necessity of hardship in the Christian walk. While I can't quote him directly, his teachings emphasized that God's love is often demonstrated through His discipline, much like a parent who corrects a child for their long-term benefit.

As we face life's challenges, let us remember that we are in a process of apprenticeship under the greatest Master. The apostle Paul reminds us, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28, KJV)

Let us embrace the "hard mode" of life, knowing that through it, God is shaping us into the image of His Son. May we not shy away from difficulties, but face them with faith, recognizing them as opportunities for growth and closeness with our Heavenly Father.

Prayer: Lord, help us to see Your hand in our hardships. Grant us the strength to endure and the wisdom to learn from every trial. May we grow in faith and character, becoming more like Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.

Affection Determines Direction" "If ye love me, keep my commandments." - John 14:15 (KJV)

 "Affection Determines Direction" #RTTBROS #Nightlight

"If ye love me, keep my commandments." - John 14:15 (KJV)

Devotion: Affection Determines Direction

At first glance, this verse might seem like a conditional statement - as if Jesus is saying, "If you want to prove you love me, then obey my commands." But that's not the heart of Christ's message here. Instead, Jesus is revealing a profound truth: our affections guide our actions.

Consider how love naturally influences our behavior. When we deeply care for someone, we instinctively seek to please them, to honor their wishes, to align our lives with what brings them joy. It's not about earning their love, but about expressing our own.

Jesus isn't demanding obedience as a prerequisite for love. Rather, He's describing the natural outcome of a heart filled with love for Him. When we truly love Christ, our actions will naturally align with His will. Our obedience becomes a joyful response to His love, not a burdensome attempt to earn it.

Think about it this way: a young child doesn't obey their parents to make them love the child more. Instead, a child who feels deeply loved and secure is more likely to trust and follow their parents' guidance. The love comes first, and the obedience follows.

Similarly, we don't obey our way into loving God. We love our way into obeying Him. Our actions spring from the wellspring of love in our hearts.

This understanding transforms how we approach God's commandments. They're not a checklist to prove our devotion, but an opportunity to express it. Each act of obedience becomes a love letter to our Savior.

As the apostle John later wrote:

"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." - 1 John 5:3 (KJV)

When our hearts are filled with love for God, His commandments don't feel burdensome. They become a natural expression of our affection.

So today, let's not focus on trying to obey our way into God's love. Instead, let's meditate on His incredible love for us. Let's allow that love to fill our hearts to overflowing. As we do, we'll find that our actions naturally align with His will, not out of duty, but out of deep, abiding affection.

Remember, affection determines direction. Where is your heart leading you today?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, fill our hearts with Your love. Help us to grasp how deep, how wide, how long, and how high Your love for us truly is. As we bask in Your affection, guide our actions. May our obedience be a natural outpouring of our love for You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Perfect Partnership: Reexamining the Myth of the Better Half

“Genesis 2:18 KJV - And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

"Better half" does indeed have its roots in Greek mythology! It originates from the mythological story of Aristophanes, who explained in Plato's "Symposium" that humans originally had two faces, four arms, and four legs. They were powerful, and the gods feared them. As a result, Zeus decided to split them in two, creating separate male and female beings. This splitting resulted in each human looking for their "other half," or their "better half."

So, the phrase "better half" comes from this mythological story and refers to the idea that people are seeking their perfect partner or complement.

The concept of a "better half" or "soul mate" can be destructive to modern dating and marriage culture in America for several reasons:

1. Unrealistic expectations: Believing in the existence of a perfect partner or "other half" can create unrealistic expectations that no real person can meet. This can lead to disappointment and dissatisfaction in relationships.

2. Fostering dependence: The idea of a "better half" can encourage people to rely on their partner for their happiness and fulfillment, rather than turning to God to meet those needs.

3. Promoting a scarcity mindset: The belief that there is only one perfect person out there for each individual can create a sense of scarcity and urgency in finding a partner, leading to hasty decisions or settling for unhealthy relationships.

4. Ignoring the work required in relationships: The mythological story suggests that people were once complete and only need to find their missing half, which doesn’t acknowledge the effort, compromise, and communication required to build and maintain healthy relationships.

In a world enchanted by the idea of soul mates and better halves, we may find ourselves lost in the chase for the "perfect partner." Genesis, however, presents a different perspective: God created Eve as a helper and companion for Adam—not as his missing half.

It's important to remember that our worth is not derived from our relationship status. As we journey through life, let's strive to become whole in our individual relationships with God, recognizing that He alone can complete us. Only then can we truly appreciate the blessing of a partner, not as a missing piece, but as a cherished companion.

One Dish at a Time: The Power of Present Moments

One Dish at a Time: The Power of Present Moments"

Bible Verse: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." - Matthew 6:34 (KJV)

In our fast-paced world, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of tasks before us. Whether it's a sink full of dirty dishes, a mountain of laundry, or a challenging project at work, the entirety of the task can seem daunting. But what if we approached these challenges with a different perspective?

Consider the wisdom in the simple phrase: "You only have to wash one dish at a time." This concept aligns beautifully with the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 6:34. When we focus on the present moment, tackling one small task at a time, we free ourselves from the anxiety of future concerns and the regrets of the past.

Just as we can only wash one dish in the present moment, we can only live one moment at a time. The future is not yet here, and the past has already gone. Our power lies in the now, in the choices we make and the actions we take in each passing second.

This approach not only makes overwhelming tasks more manageable but also allows us to fully engage with the present. As we wash that one dish, we can practice mindfulness, gratitude, and even use the time for prayer or reflection.

Remember the words of Solomon in Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV): "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." By focusing on one task, one moment at a time, we honor God's design for our lives and find peace in His perfect timing.

So, the next time you face a daunting task, remember: you only need to do one small part right now. Trust in God's provision for each moment, and take comfort in knowing that His grace is sufficient for today's challenges.

Prayer: Lord, help us to live fully in each moment You've given us. Grant us the wisdom to break down overwhelming tasks and the strength to focus on what's before us right now. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Cicadas Song #RTTBROS #nightlight

Cicadas Song #RTTBROS #nightlight

"Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." - Psalm 150:6

In the sweltering heat of a South Carolina this summer, an unexpected symphony arose. The air vibrated with a pulsating rhythm so intense that concerned citizens dialed the local police, convinced that some hidden alarm was sounding throughout their neighborhood. But as officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the source of this clamorous chorus was not a manmade device, but rather God's own creation - cicadas.

These small insects, emerging from their long slumber beneath the earth, filled the air with their distinctive song. Their voices, produced by rapidly vibrating membranes on their abdomens, created a crescendo so powerful it could be heard for miles. What some initially perceived as a nuisance soon became the defining soundtrack of the season, a constant reminder of the teeming life that surrounds us.

Just as cicadas emerge from the ground after years of waiting, we too have moments when we feel compelled to break forth in song, to praise our Creator for the beauty and wonder of the world around us.

Yet sometimes we remain silent, afraid to lift our voices in worship, just as the cicadas might hesitate to sing if no other cicadas joined in.

But imagine a world without the cicadas' song, without the chorus of creation praising God. Would it not feel empty and incomplete?

In the same way, our own praise adds to the symphony of worship that rises to God's ears. So sing your song of praise, even if you feel alone. Join in the chorus of creation, and let your voice ring out in gratitude and love for the One who made us all.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the beauty and wonder of creation. Help us to lift our voices in praise, to add our song to the chorus of creation. Amen.
