God Has Got This. Ps. 23
Do you have a night routine? I want to teach you to be still and know that God has got this. I have a morning routine and a night routine. I do things almost exactly the same way in the morning and then right before I go to bed right after I get out of bed, there's a specific order to getting dressed and getting the coffee made and getting my little moped ready and all of that at night before I tuck into bed. I always go in and get me a big old tablespoon of peanut butter and eat it it's Let me tell you a little bit about kind of being still and knowing that God has got this this is redeeming the time brothers podcast podcast by Gene Kissinger, Norman Kissinger, two brothers who spent their lives in ministry and raising large families our desire is to leave a nightlight on for you as we provide a digital place for those who longed to belong. Tonight's nightlight is out of Psalms 23 says He leadeth me beside the still waters, he restores my soul. He leadeth me beside the still water He restoreth my soul. I like those times early in the morning and right at right before I fall asleep at night when it's quiet through my house. There's a sense of stillness that settles over the entirety of creation It feels like and it allows me to have a moment where I can sort of just breathe in and not have to be anywhere and not have to do anything and not have any obligations but just to rest quietly in God. And boy, I need that because sometimes we can get so agitated and upset. We are harried by the wolves of this world as God sheep. We are chased and harassed and and boy we hit those days when it seems like everything goes wrong and it's stressful and you you feel the pressure pounding in around you. That's exactly when you've got to know that it's okay God's got this. Be still and know that God has got this. I like how one one author wrote it. He said I finally reach up and click off the lamp head to bed, embraced by the darkness for a moment I feel the presence of God close by lolling me into sleep and rest the psalmist writes, be still and know that I am God. Sometimes we best commune with God by being quiet and drifting off into slumber by leaning back and abiding in God's presence. The Good Shepherd gives us sheep permission to rest, to be content to be lazy, and to do nothing but enjoy the goodness of God. They're going to be those days. When you feel like you've got to somehow be the manager of the universe and you don't fill up. Melaka athon was a friend of Martin Luther the original Martin Luther not the one of civil rights fame, but the one reformation fame. And his good friend Philip Melaka. Anton was one who sort of sharpened him As iron sharpens iron. And one day Philip was going over the the agenda for the days they would decide what to do. And he said, melon can bond said, Martin this day we will discuss the governance of the universe. To which Luther replied Philip this day, you and I will go fishing and leave the governance of the universe to God. And boy, we need to leave the governance of the universe to God, I used to feel like I was responsible for everybody and everything. And I went around carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. But God has recently taught me that every human being is responsible for their own actions and I can't make them do right. And God doesn't even make them do right. So I've got a cast them over onto God, Chuck swindoll. Writing, he talked about how there are days when the best thing you can do is leave it to God. Don't sweat. Don't fret. Don't cry. Don't curse. Don't sweat. Don't fret. Don't cry, don't curse. Just smile and leave it to God. Be still and know that God's got this. You may you may have trouble doing that because
you may be kind of a driven personality like me. One of the fav favorite cartoons I have is the one Garfield where it's about a big, fat lazy cat. And john, his owner comes in and says, tries to wake him up and he says the early bird gets the worm Garfield and he says, show me an early bird and I'll show you a bird with bad breath and who wants worms anyway, kind of thinking. Sometimes we sometimes we feel so driven and so compelled. And God wants us to really move more into the model of Jesus. Think about the ministry of Jesus. Jesus never hurried anywhere, and he never worried about anyone. Jesus never hurried anywhere and he never worried about anyone. What does that mean? That means that he left it to God. What about those that rejected him? What about those that shook their head and said, No, he left them to God the Father and we can leave that our loved ones who don't know Jesus yet to God the Father. Now we witness when there's opportunity we plant seed when we can But ultimately, their relationship with God is between them and God and they have to make that decision. We can't make it for them. And so I think we need to do a little bit of casting today cast our cares upon God. Cast those that we love onto God and just smile and rest and know that God's got this Be still and know that God's got this God bless you. Let's pray. Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I thank you for these that are under the sound of my voice. I pray that you would bless them and help them to rest well tonight, let them know that you love them and care for them. Just give them your supernatural strength as they go through their days. Help them not to fret, help them not to sweat, help them not to curse. Help them God just to cast their cares upon you. Thank you for all that you have done. Be with us on this night in Jesus name, amen. God bless you have a good night.
