Transformed, Not Conformed #RTTBROS #nightlight #normankissinger #NK

Verse: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." - Romans 12:2 (KJV)

In this devotion, the speaker discusses the critical difference between repentance and compliance. Many parents have experienced their children professing faith when they were younger, only to find them living away from the Lord as they grew older. This raises the question: Is it enough for someone to merely change their outward behavior, or is a genuine heart transformation necessary?

The Apostle Paul states that people will either be transformed by the power of Jesus Christ or continue to conform to the world's standards. It is easy for teachers of the Gospel to assume that outward changes indicate an inward transformation, but this is not always the case. People can conform to a church, a cult, or a certain way of thinking without truly being changed by Christ from the inside out.

As workers in the gospel, it is crucial to understand, teach, and proclaim the difference between transformation and conformation. The Christian life is about being transformed into the image of the Holy God, as demonstrated in the life of Christ, rather than simply acting like a good churchgoer.

In every age, there have been conformations both in the church and in the world, with people following different groups or ways of thinking. However, it is transformation that is necessary to save America and the church as we move into the end times. Let us strive for genuine heart change through the power of Christ, rather than mere outward compliance.

My friend that I'm doing a funeral for had a blood disease that required an infusion of platelets and Iron, two times a week for 4 hours each visit at Mountain States Tumor Institute for the last 16 years.  The amazing thing about Johnny was that he had the ability to have a happy Spirit even in the midst of a lifelong battle with a debilitating disease. He could often be heard singing and whistling as he made his way through his day. As I've been thinking back over his life and looking at mine I sometimes find myself feeling sorry for myself over some difficult issue that's in my life. But I'm realizing that if we wait until everything is perfect in our life to find joy and happiness we will never find those things.  A miner must move mountains of Earth before he finds ounces of gold. Perhaps we need to move aside the problems of our life and look for the happiness and joy that is all around us. but we tend not to see  because we haven't done the work of moving the problems aside.

I would wager that no matter how difficult you find your life right now there's probably somebody within your network of friends and family that has things far worse than you. Perhaps just for today we can be thankful for this day and the joy and happiness that is within it.  Just some random thought about living life with gratitude and expectancy.

Life Is a Battleground":

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. - Ephesians 6:13 (KJV)

Many people go through life expecting it to be easy and fun, like a playground built solely for their enjoyment and amusement. However, as the Bible makes clear, that notion is far from the truth. Life is in fact a battleground. As Christian teacher Adrian Rogers said, "You are in a battle—a battle for your soul, a battle for your family, a battle for your community—and you cannot be neutral."

Each day, we face an Enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). We are engaged in a very real spiritual battle against the forces of evil and darkness in this fallen world. If we are not vigilant and prepared, we will be caught off guard and overcome.

Thankfully, God does not leave us defenseless. In Ephesians 6, Paul describes the armor God provides to help us stand firm:

The belt of truth

The breastplate of righteousness

Feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace

The shield of faith

The helmet of salvation

The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

When we put on the full armor of God through prayer and living by His Word, we are equipped to face the Enemy's attacks. We can stand our ground, not in our own strength, but in the mighty power of God.

Life is indeed a battleground, not a playground. But in Christ, we have everything we need to withstand the evil day and emerge victorious. So suit up, soldier! Take your stand on the unshakable promises of God's Word. And fight the good fight, knowing your ultimate triumph is sure in Jesus.

Finding Joy in the Journey

Proverbs 16:9 KJV - 9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps

In Proverbs 16:9, we are reminded that while we may have our own plans and ideas about how our lives should go, it is God who ultimately guides our steps. This can be a difficult concept to grasp, especially when we encounter suffering and hardship along the way.

But as Helen Keller so beautifully put it, "Joy is not the absence of suffering. It is the presence of Christ in the midst of suffering." This is a powerful reminder that even in the midst of difficulty, we can find joy through our relationship with Jesus.

Perhaps you're going through a tough time right now, or maybe you've experienced suffering in the past. It can be easy to feel alone and overwhelmed, but the truth is that Christ is always with us. He never leaves our side, even in the darkest moments.

I remember a time in my own life when I was facing a significant challenge. I felt lost and unsure of how I would make it through. But as I leaned into my faith and spent time in prayer, I began to sense Christ's presence in a new and profound way. It didn't make the challenge go away, but it did give me the strength and peace I needed to keep going.

So if you're feeling discouraged or overwhelmed today, know that you're not alone. Take some time to reflect on the truth that Christ is with you, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you in a new and powerful way.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are always with us, even in the midst of suffering. Help us to find joy in our relationship with You, no matter what challenges we may be facing. Amen.

The 3 walls of control 

The topic of God's sovereignty is a deep and complex one, and it can certainly be thought-provoking. You're right that the story of Joseph is a great example of how God can work even through difficult circumstances to bring about His ultimate purpose.

Here are some points to consider:

1. The idea of God's sovereignty means that He is in ultimate control of everything that happens in the world, even the seemingly random or chaotic events.

2. This doesn't mean that God causes bad things to happen, but rather that He can use those things for good. As Romans 8:28 says, "Romans 8:28 KJV - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”

3. It's natural to feel frustrated or powerless when we're faced with situations that are out of our control, but trusting in God's sovereignty can bring a sense of peace and security.

Ponder This

Some years ago in New York City, there was a mother who was hanging clothes to dry outside when a fire broke out in her home with her baby inside. That mother’s face took the heat of those flames and was horribly scarred. Her hands were burned, but the baby was not touched at all by that fire. Not a hair was singed. One day that girl grew up and spoke to a friend who said, “Who is that hideous woman?” This girl said, “I don’t know,” and the mother heard.

Later, when they got home, the mother said “Darling, come here. I want to tell you something. When you were a baby, I went into a burning house and rescued you, not a hair on your head was touched, but these scars on my face and these scars on my hand are there because I rescued you from the flames.” When that daughter learned the truth, she was filled with shame and remorse. She said “Oh, my mother, can you ever forgive me?” Let us never be ashamed of Jesus and the scars He bore for our sake. How could we ever blush to speak His name or own His cause? Jesus wore my crown. The sacred mystery is that He bore the curse; the solemn misery is that He suffered our hell.
